{"id":82516,"date":"2021-05-18T10:16:01","date_gmt":"2021-05-18T14:16:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dronelife.com\/?p=82516"},"modified":"2021-05-18T10:19:33","modified_gmt":"2021-05-18T14:19:33","slug":"onadas-acquires-american-robotics-to-leverage-autonomous-drone-tech","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dronelife.com\/2021\/05\/18\/onadas-acquires-american-robotics-to-leverage-autonomous-drone-tech\/","title":{"rendered":"Ondas Acquires American Robotics to Leverage Autonomous Drone Tech"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_81826\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-81826\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-81826\" src=\"https:\/\/dronelife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Scout-Drone-Landing-on-ScoutBase-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"American Robotics\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-81826\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: American Robotics<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Wireless broadband company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ondas.com\/\">Ondas Holdings<\/a> has acquired drone company American Robotics in a $70.6 million deal.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2016, American Robotics brings its Scout drone system to Ondas\u2019 portfolio\u2014the first drone system to receive FAA regulatory approvals for autonomous flight. \u201cThis gives the company an exclusive first-mover advantage to unlock the commercial drone market by overcoming the need for costly visual observers to be on the ground during every drone flight,\u201d an Ondas statement noted.<\/p>\n<p>For Ondas, the acquisition will help integrate its technology platforms and increase automation, data collection, and AI-powered analytics in industrial markets to improve maintenance, monitoring and operation of critical infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>American Robotics\u2019 Scout System will be integrated into Ondas FullMAX platform, a networking solution data communications solution for field area operations.<\/p>\n<p>The company plans to use the Scout System as a mobile data gathering application for wide field area operations in industrial, agricultural and governmental settings. The system includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Scout, a fully autonomous drone with advanced imaging payloads;<\/li>\n<li>ScoutBase, a ruggedized base station for housing, charging, data processing and cloud transfer;<\/li>\n<li>ScoutView, American Robotics&#8217; analytics and front-end software package.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;We are excited to bring American Robotics into the Ondas fold,\u201d said Eric Brock, Chairman and CEO of Ondas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the end of the day, the drone industry\u2019s product is data, not aircraft. The drone is the ultimate data gathering edge device for mission critical operations, solving a huge pain-point for Ondas\u2019 industrial and government customers and ecosystem partners.
